thanks for including your settings in your sport action shots is very helpful.
with and ISO of 1600 the image is not very grainy at all & it has such nice focus. You also always manage to capture the emotion in the shot. Well done :butterfly:

You're welcome, Chibi...that's exactly why I put them
This was shot with an FX camera...which has a full frame sensor. Because of its larger size over DX format is produces less noise.
Thank you very much my friend :rose:

Interesting, I didn't know a full frame sensor produced less noise.

Thanks so much for the link. The article was really well written, easy to understand & didn't lose my attention with technical information that I'd never understand. I actually feel like I could explain it an interested person....and the bucket analogy worked for me. Wish they would come down in price. Thanks, much appreciated. :butterfly:

Awesome...I was afraid that maybe the tech mumbo-jumbo might bore you. Glad it didn't.
They will eventually, once there is a mass educated consumer cry/demand for them. Consider yourself among that group now. Honestly, they way over priced currently but I needed one for the wide-angle capabilities and now the D4 is my camera of choice. I have a Nikon 300s (a DX camera) that can be considered still as brand new I have maybe taken 50 shots on it...in two years

Wide angle use was my motivation for getting a fx used camera....
but for now I'll have to rent one w/a lens to try it out.
My D7000 is very nice though I often feel the shots aren't crisp...but that could be me.

Poor barely used 300s, but I think if I had a D4 I would use that one too!
It's really....really nice!

I bookmarked the site for future information, seems like a good one.
And I do appreciate the help from you. :butterfly:

That's a great idea to rent one first...try the D800 or the older D700 (I have that one too)...or a D4 if they are available. The D7000 is a great camera. Your sometimes dissatisfaction with crispness may be the lenses you are using. The kit lens aren't as good I think...but I don't own any so its hard for me to do a comparison test.

i like how the center player's eyes are fixated on the basket and it looks like he has been through many battles under the rim. great action shot Richard! i hope you didn't end up in a collision out of bounds. you are like a quarterback in football, waiting until the last second before the rush collapses on you to get the shot! well done.

He has for sure...I envy his tunnel vision
Hey what a great analogy. That's exactly how it feels. I have learned after a few "collisions" in my career to not step backwards. Even though that's a natural reaction it still leaves you in the path of destruction at the pace they are running. Now I step quickly to the left or the right and out of harms way...but yes...gotta get the shot first
Thank you, Hondo :ahoy:
